Salutations. Operation Overwhelmingly Virtual is underway, and we've tried to deluge our fans and enemies with Unforgettable Data Product Experiences (TM).
In the last few weeks we've released 3 materialized and 7 (!) virtual artisanal Icechunk Zarrs. We hope you like them.
ECCC HRDPS forecast
ECCC HRDPS forecast (materialized): Canada's high resolution, 48-hour, deterministic forecast. Archive starts 2026-07-09 and we may be able to backfill further.
ECMWF IFS ENS forecast, 46 day
101 dalmatians, er, ensemble members every day from ECMWF's IFS at the sub-seasonal horizon. Comes in daily and six hourly flavors (both materialized). Our archive starts 2026-01-01 and pairs well with Planette's 10 member reforecast that runs through 2025. ECMWF's license holds these forecasts back for 48 hours, so each one arrives about two days after its init_time.
ECMWF AIFS Single forecast, virtual
ECMWF AIFS Single forecast, virtual: all variables and pressure levels, low latency, and optimized for map access. Archive starts 2024-04-01.
NOAA GFS and GEFS, virtual
Do you ever go to pick up something gigantic and are surprised to find how light it is? That's what it feels like to use these GFS + GEFS virtuals which are both mind-bendingly large and as easy to use as the rest of our datasets. Six global products, optimized for spatial (map) access and low latency with every variable, vertical level, and initialization. Chunks reference NOAA Open Data Dissemination GRIB files in the AWS Open Data Registry.

- NOAA GFS analysis, virtual
- NOAA GEFS forecast, 10 day, 0.25 degree, virtual
- NOAA GEFS forecast, 16 day, 0.5 degree, virtual
- NOAA GEFS forecast, 35 day, 0.5 degree, virtual
- NOAA GEFS analysis, 0.25 degree, virtual
PHEW. Goodness. I'm winded.
Making these data products is actually trivial. Easy, really. What's HARD is the release trailers. Which I now feel completely and utterly obligated to make.

Explorer in the docs
Every dataset page in the catalog now has an Explore section: an interactive map of the data, loaded right in your browser. "Look at the data," as Alden says, remains the number one way to debug your modeling or data science issues.
Enjoy the weather ~
